  Peasant Girl...

Between 1337 to 1453 C.E, the English ruled much of modern France. During this time, a peasant girl named Jeanne d’ Arc was born. She was not taught to read or write, but her mother, Isabelle Romée, taught Joan of her deep love for the Catholic Church and its teaching.

and was rightly and duly taught to do as

a good child should."

Joan was a quiet, gentle child who did what she was told. Joan loved working on her father’s farm, helping water the crops and harvest. However, women of this time did not have a say in what they did; they were ruled by their father, husbands,or oldest sons of the house.

Joan of Arc, 1860-1932, Newfield,

"It is better to be alone with God.
His friendship will not fail me,
nor his counsel, nor his love.
In his strength, I will dare
and dare and dare until I die."
-Joan of Arc
